Bed Bug Treatment Process

Heat Treatment Removal

Heat treatments are considered the best solution to bed bug infestations within the industry. Bed bugs die within minutes when the air is heated to a temperature of 125°F or higher. At this “kill zone” temperature, the bed bugs’ exoskeletons are almost instantly dehydrated, killing them. Absolutely no bed bugs or eggs are able to withstand the heat, making this form of treatment the most effective- if done correctly!

How The One & Done Heat Treatment Works

Preparation

The first step is preparation. The technician will provide you with a preparation guide ahead of the day of the treatment, so that you are prepared. This will include removing clutter, spacing items out, etc. On the treatment day, the technician will answer any questions you may have, and the treatment will begin!

Radiator and Fan Placement

Radiators and fans are placed strategically throughout the treatment area. Super hot liquid flows from the trailer outside into hoses and through the radiators. Fans blow the heat off the radiators into the air and circulate it. This convection is key to ensure that the heat penetrates any items that could be insulating.

Temperature Set to "Kill Zone"

The temperature in the treatment area is raised to the "kill zone" of 125° F and higher, to about 145° F. The temperature is raised very quickly and uniformly, allowing the heat to penetrate all of the areas that bed bugs like to hide in- inside walls and crevices, in clothing and linens, under loose floorboards and rugs, in furniture, in electrical sockets, and of course- in beds.

Heat Treatment

While a heat treatment is occurring, your technician will ensure that there is uniform raise in temperature throughout the treatment area. They will continue to monitor it and confirm that the target temperature is reached throughout various areas in the building, and that there are no cool areas that the heat is missing, like under cushions.

Bed Bug Free Home

The treatment itself will take several hours to complete. Once the technician has confirmed that the "kill zone" temperature has been reached everywhere and held for long enough, they will stop the treatment. You will receive an after-treatment report, and will be left with a bed-bug-free home!
